How to Check and Top-Up Your Engine Oil

Setups To Checking Engine Oil & Top-Ups

Park Your Vehicle On Flat Ground

Before beginning, make sure your vehicle is on a flat surface because any slope can affect the readings, making them inaccurate.

Locate Your Engine's Oil Dipstick & Wipe It Clean

Depending on your vehicle's make, model, and model year, your vehicle might or might not have a dipstick. Check your owner's manual to find the location of your specified model's dipstick, and if your vehicle doesn't have one, then you can check it through the digital information display. The dipstick will have a bright colour and a round or T-shaped handle. Pull it out and wipe it clean, then reinsert it back into the tube.

Put The Dipstick Back In & Remove It To Check Level

Once it is wiped clean and back into the tube, pull it back out, and you will have your engine oil's level reading. The dipstick will have two marks, one indicating the minimum and the other is the maximum level.

Use A Funnel To Add Oil To Reach Recommended Level

If your dipstick indicates that the oil level is low, add the recommended oil type using a funnel inside the engine. Make sure to add a small amount each time and check the level constantly by repeating the steps above until you reach the correct engine oil level.
