2022 Mitsubishi Outlander Review For North Bay, Ontario

2022 Mitsubishi Outlander In North Bay, Ontario

If you are on the hunt for a new SUV, it might be worth waiting for the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander to make its debut. Overhauled for introducing the fourth generation, Mitsubishi uses its partnership with fellow automakers Nissan and Renault to its advantage. The Outlander is now similar to the Nissan Rogue, sharing its under-body construction and powertrain configuration.

The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander Redesign

The 2022 redesign comes powered by a new 2.5-L 4-cylinder that produces 181 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes paired up with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) that aids in improving efficiency. It is more potent than the Rogue's old 170-horsepower 4-cylinder, and its ability to accelerate and shift between gears is even smoother.

Front-wheel drive comes standard on every trim level, but you can opt for Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC), which comes with a Drive Mode Selector. Essentially, the Super All-Wheel Control is Mitsubishi's fancy term for all-wheel drive. S-AWC does come standard on the SEL Launch Edition, but it is available as an option on the other trim levels (the ES, SE, SE Launch Edition, and SEL). It provides enhanced stability and traction control and provides you with multiple drive modes to select between.

2022 Mitsubishi Outlander Technology Features

As far as infotainment and safety features go, you will find a long list of standard items on the base ES trim. This trim level comes with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, smartphone app integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 6-speaker sound system.

Also, the standard is Mitsubishi's suite of driver aids. Included in this bundle is a forward collision warning, which warns the driver of a potential upcoming frontal collision and, in certain situations, applies the brakes. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert lets you know if a vehicle is creeping up in one of your blind spots while changing lanes or going in reverse. The rear automatic brakes will apply if the system detects an imminent collision with something behind the Outlander. Lane departure warning lets you know when the vehicle is drifting outside its intended lane, and rear parking sensors alert you when there are difficult-to-see objects behind the Outlander when you go to park it. Finally, a driver's attention warning will sound off when it thinks you have become distracted or drowsy.

Upgrading to a higher trim level will, of course, get you more. The SE adds the Convenience package's Mitsubishi Connect with Safeguard and Remote Services, a subscription-based service that lets you control various functions right from your phone. You also get a 9-inch touchscreen, a navigation system, a wireless charging pad, rear USB ports, front parking sensors, a 360-degree surround-view camera system. The Outlander also comes with a Mi-Pilot Assist system, which incorporates lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control-adding the Tech package nets you a 10-speaker Bose audio system and a digital instrument panel.

The SE Launch addition standardizes the Tech package, and the SEL swaps in a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. Equipping the Touring package on it gives the Outlander a head-up display and the 10-speaker Bose audio system.
